Sera Gamble Speaks

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

Sera Gamble

The CW Source caught up with writer and producer Sera Gamble before the WGA strike began. In her interview, she discusses various facets about the strike, how it will affect the show, and even some tidbits about what will happen in future episodes, such as this:

“The episode that I just finished writing is the return of Agent Henricksen. That storyline has been kept alive because the boys have had to lay low so the authorities don’t catch up to them. We wanted to do something really, really juicy with the return of Henricksen, and we really took our time breaking the story. What we came up with is sort of our version of Assault on Precinct 13.”

You can find more of her interview here.

Episode 3×07 “Fresh Blood” Promo

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

This week’s promo features the return of an old ‘friend,’ Gordon Walker. Gordon’s appearance is very creepy, and with the shot of his bloody teeth, one has to wonder if he’s become the very thing that he hates so much: a vampire.

The episode will air Thursday, November 15th at 9/8 Central on the CW!

Update on Supernatural status with ongoing WGA strike

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

Two Supernatural fans who visited the WGA and SGA rally at Culver City yesterday bumped into Eric Kripke, head writer and creator of the show. They spoke about quite a bit, and we finally have this little tidbit of info to add to it:

“We got to talking about the show and production. He mentioned that they were filming episode 11 right now, and that contrary to what we’ve all been reading they have one more script left to be filmed, bringing the total count of currently available episodes up to 12. He said that if the strike ended sometime within the month, they could ‘pick up and start filming without missing a beat.’ But if the strike lasted into January, they might have to cut back on episodes OR they would have to halt production, leaving the total episodes for this season at only 12.

You can find a detailed description of the meeting here and here.

As a side note, it would seem that Kripke agrees with me in that “Red Sky at Morning” wasn’t all that great of an episode.

Red Sky at Morning

Dean: I mean, I’m not blind. I see what you’re going through with this whole deal. Me going away and all that. But you’re going to be okay.
Sam: You think so?

Behind the Scenes: SPFX Makeup

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the people who work on the SPFX makeup for the show. One of the episodes they mention is “Skin” from the first season, which is particularly educational. It’s startling to see that skin can be replicated by plastic that easily on screen, isn’t it?

Don’t forget: tonight’s episode is called “Red Sky at Morning” (preview here) and will be on the CW at 9/8 central!

Is Supernatural The Best Show on the CW?

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

Bedtime Stories

BuddyTV’s Ralph Galvan poses an interesting argument and poll on this exact subject. Even though he contends that Buffy The Vampire Slayer was far better, he admits

“Supernatural has been consistently steady or increasing in viewers, has a broad appeal, and actually has more consistently good episodes than not. It deserves to be treated as such.”

which is probably one of the best arguments I’ve seen for the show yet. There’s a poll attached to the post; wouldn’t it be lovely if Supernatural managed to edge out every other show on it? Well it has, by 93% and counting.

Now, if only the CW would acknowledge the increasing number of viewers (3.24 million last week) and increase advertising and promotion for the show.

Episode 3×06 Promo

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

This week’s promo has a very interesting Pirates of the Caribbean flair to it. I’m rather surprised to see Bela in this episode; her role seems to have changed from an antagonist to a damsel in distress. As this show has its fair bit of the ‘damsel in distress’ syndrome, I’m slightly disappointed. On the other hand, the promos are almost always guaranteed to be misleading, so perhaps there is hope for her and this episode! I suppose we’ll have to wait it out.

Dean: You can pretend all you want, Sammy. But sooner or later you’re going to have to face up to who you really are.
Sam: And who is that?
Dean: One of us.

With so few words, Supernatural managed to capture my interest and my imagination in Februrary 2007. Several months later, I now consider myself an active and interested fan in the series.

This blog is intended for two purposes: (more…)
