“A Very Supernatural Christmas” Promo

Young Dean: Where’d you get that? That’s Dad’s! He’s gonna kick your ass for reading that!
Young Sam: Are monsters real?

After the brilliancy of episode 3×08, “Fresh Blood,” I certainly wasn’t expecting something on par to it this week. We certainly didn’t get the same intensity, but this episode was both fun and gory, filler and storyline-tying. Rather than reciting all of 1970s-television references that were apparently rampant throughout, I’d prefer to discuss the greater meanings of this episode for the main storyarc, which is Dean’s impending death. Production Ends and WGA Strikes Continue; Kripke Gives an Update

Ben Edlund’s Strike Sign
(Protest sign of Ben Edlund, co-exec producer of SPN,
thanks to Emmett Furey)

Even though production shut down on December 5th, our Supernatural crew hasn’t been idling by. Ben Edlund, co-executive producer of the show, has been nearly everywhere in the strike. Last Friday, December 7th, Edlund joined his fellow former-and-present-members of Mutant Enemy, the production company that produced Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly, in their protest at Fox studios. According to IGN, he was joined by other writers, actors, and fans of Joss Whedon.

Also, TV Guide recently interviewed SPN creator Eric Kripke on the new episode tomorrow night, as well as the fate of the few future episodes ahead.

It turns out that Ridge Canipe, the actor who played young Dean in Season 1’s “Something Wicked” (the first episode where the young Winchesters were featured) is returning to star in the flashbacks for the upcoming “A Very Supernatural Christmas.” Unfortunately, Alex Ferris, who played young Sam in “Something Wicked” is being replaced by Colin Ford for “A Very Supernatural Christmas.” If you ask me, Ford looks more like a younger Sam than Ferris did, which is nice.

According to Kripke, there are four more episodes left after tomorrow night’s (a total of twelve episodes for this season) until they start running repeats. Now, for the remaining episodes (more…)

Behind The Scenes with Kim Mathers and Jared & Jensen

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

Recently, the CW Source had an interview with Kim Mathers, executive producer of Supernatural. If his name seems familiar to you, you might remember him from the X-Files and Charlie’s Angels.

In the interview, Manners gives a detailed and fun interview about how he started working at Supernatural. I love how he describes the show as a ‘mini-movie’ every week, and the ‘inner sanctum’ that is the Supernatural writer’s room. He ends the interview by looking into the screen and saying ‘Keep watching, everybody.’ No worries there, Kim. If you keep directing episodes like “Fresh Blood,” we’ll be riveted.

To further our pleasure, we also have Part 1 of an interview with Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, thanks to Ducky TV.

The interview itself is new, but the information in it isn’t very new to the truly hardcore fans. Jensen mentions that they run lines on the ride to work every morning, since they don’t have much time with their scripts and the rides are at least half an hour to an hour long. We also have some new information on their favorite episodes. Aside from Season 1’s “Pilot” and “Devil’s Trap,” Jared also mentions “In My Time of Dying” and “Simon Said” from Season 2. From the shots on set, I’d say that they were filming “Roadkill” during this interview. Again, not new information but still worth a watch.

Aaron Ashmore on Thomas Kinkade’s Home For Christmas

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

Peter O’Toole & Jared Padalecki in Home for Christmas

Recently, the CW Source interviewed Aaron Ashmore, who plays Jimmy Olsen on Smallville (you can find out more by checking the tags on WatchingCW).

In the interview, Ashmore (who also plays Kinkade’s brother in the movie Home for Christmas) reveals that he’s know Jared for quite a while now. In fact, it was Jared who recommended that he get the part for brother! Ashmore also says that the movie was filmed in Vancouver, which must have been nice, considering that both SPN and Smallville are filmed there and Ashmore is a Canadian. There is still no word on when the film will be released.

Episode 3×08 “A Very Supernatural Christmas” Promo

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

In case you didn’t know it yet, we get a brand new episode of SPN tomorrow night! According to ACED magazine, the episode will feature many flashbacks to Sam and Dean’s childhood. Also, we finally discover where a certain piece of jewelry comes from! This looks to be yet another quality episode. Here’s hoping it satisfies us enough that we’re left begging for more.

Remember, The episode will air Thursday, November 15th at 9/8 Central on the CW!
